It's a sad world when your 74p ASDA cheap brand shampoo and conditioner gets stolen whilst you're swimming. Stupid bitch who stole it inconvenienced me to have to go home with wet unwashed scraggly hair D:<

Cosplay Help ¦D

  • Jul. 2nd, 2009 at 9:53 AM
Oh Noes
I need the help of more cosplay-aware people on my friends list ;_;

I am making a Twilight Princess Link tunic. I will hold my hands up and say, it's looking damn awesome as I haven't yet managed to cock-up and ruin anything (woot!) But I've hit a bit of a problem.

Link has some decorative stitching in the bottom corners of his tunic and a few visable seam-stitches up and down the sides. I sewed all these on when I constructed the tunic and it looked really good, I hand-stitched the decorative swirls in the bottom corners and was really quite proud of myself, had a big grin on my face for 3 days straight just from that accomplishment.

Then I added eyelets and the bigger stitching which I had to use a slightly darker colour for and now the decorative stiching I originally did doesn't really stand out at all, even if you're stood only 5 feet away from it ;_;

Is there anything I can do to effectively 'darken' the original stitching, such as lightly apply some kind of fabric colouring pen across the lines etc, or do you think this is a disaster waiting to happen? :\

If photos are needed let me know and I shall take photos tonight...

Heartbreaking

  • Jun. 28th, 2009 at 10:16 PM
I'm a Luna!

This is going to seriously break my heart.

Look what appeared in our neighbours garden today, a little Dutch bunny. I have no idea if it's a permenant feature or if they're just looking after it for a friend's holiday, but the hutch is APPALINGLY tiny and the run is not even cat-proof (let alone fox-proof) and there is no sunshade or shelter from the rain on the run ;_;

When are people going to learn that lone rabbits in tiny hutches are at least 10 years out of date in terms of care? You would not subject a cat or a dog to this kind of cruelty ;_; The rabbit keeps looking at me when I'm at our bedroom window as if to say "can you give me some attention? I'm so very lonely and bored ;_; "  It's breaking my heart to see Sora and Smudgie bounding around the garden as happy as can be, and then looking at this poor little soul who seems to have been dealt a terrible life sentance in its tiny little prison.

If it's still there in 2 weeks or so I shall be having words with my neighbours about proper rabbit care. If I don't at least see a sunshade over the run in the meantime I shall be having words beforehand >:(

Things like this make me wonder WTF IS WRONG WITH SOME PEOPLE?!?! I lived in Frome for 18 months when we first moved down south and I still go there because that's where my star vets are ;_;

Grow up and get a life. Seriously. Grow up, act your age, and stop acting like a fucking 5 year old in a playground. Aren't you something like 2 decades older than that? Possibly more...?

If you think I'm talking about you, then yes, I probably AM talking about you.  Right when I thought you couldn't make my opinion of you any lower, you go and prove me wrong and show what a complete dipshit fail you are even more than I ever thought was possible ~ congratulations! ¬_¬

I am done with you. If you see me at any events (highly doubtful since fortunately we rarely go to the same ones) I suggest you don't bother talking to me, you may as well be talking to thin air as I simply won't acknowledge you exist.

Good day to you~

Give yourselfs a high-five for remembering this one ^_~ So, so pleased to see part of my childhood back on the screen:-

Noticed a few companies reusing old adverts (or at least clips from old averts)  Wonder if they're trying to spark nostalgia from the good days, or if they're just trying to save money by paying royalties instead of the full price ^^;

So, did anyone else see the old Milky Way adverts back on our TV’s again this morning?

Scott and I were only talking about this ancient advert last month and trying to remember the lyrics to the Red & Blue song. There’s been a LOT of things like this lately that are happening very shortly after we’ve been talking about them.

So we’ve started talking about how awesome it was when Scott & Hel won the lottery XD Can’t hurt to try, eh? ^_~

Sora is at the vets on Thursday evening for one of her booster vaccinations. Actually the booster is due today but they can’t fit us in until Thursday :\

Vaccinations and boosters are known to sometimes trigger GI Stasis in stasis-prone bunnies, but unfortunately you can’t skimp out on Myxomatosis boosters so I’m going to need to watch her like a hawk for a couple of days afterwards and make sure I pick up any early (ever-subtle) warning signs.

Double-edges sword though, bunnies can pick up on worry and stress from their owners which can also cause stasis itself ¦D;; (I know, I can’t do right for doing wrong) so I’m going to have to act completely unworried around her and keep her relaxed.

Good acting practice, I guess!

I don't know how people can seriously afford to make their own clothes these days (either cosplay or normal clothes) when material is so expensive.  I just tried the fabric shop in Bath, to find something that was (almost) what I wanted, and it was £9.99 a metre.  It's only red cotton, ffs. If it was some fancy material then yeah I'd accept that it will be expensive but for cotton that's not even doubled over on the roll? No.

I'm going to contact the Chinese eBayers. Yes I know I shouldn't buy from chinese eBay sellers etc but I've tried to go the proper route and been refused, and making it myself will cost me somewhere in the region of £120 plus X hours of labour and stress to get there ¬_¬

*goes to throw cash at someone*

Or I might just buy this one instead for the whopping price of £27.

Dilemma.

FanPlusFriend have refused the commission request I sent them ;_; I replied to their refusal and asked why (I wasn’t sure if there were copyright issues on the designs, or if it was impossible to make). The response was apparently they do not do alterations or combinations of their existing dresses, “because the result almost never match the expectations of the client”.

I can see why they wouldn’t want to do major alterations for that reason, but the request I made only had a very slight amendment which was changing the shirring bodice to a flat, fitted bodice and putting a lace-up detail up the front. I honestly couldn't have cared about it being exactly right as long as the shirring was gone, though there were diagrams and everything and it was very plain and straight-forward on paper. But sads, a refusal is a refusal and I’ll just have to continue looking to find the perfect dress with none of that goddamn awful shirring on the front ¦D

I actually want to make my own, I have a dress pattern that I can adapt with some imagination & guesswork (it would mainly just be adding material to the skirt to make it fuller, I’m sure I can manage that), and I have a good sewing machine. The only thing stopping me is not being able to find the right colour material in the first place without it being shiny or satiny -_-;; Do not want to look like cheap sleazy French prostitute, kthxbye.

Guess I’ll have to go back to the drawing board. Or just buy a pretty dress I saw on eBay last night instead. It’s mainly black with white lace, which I didn’t really want yet ANOTHER black dress in my teeny tiny Lolita collection, but the style is nice and different from what I already have. Different to what I was looking for too, but nice all the same. It’s only £27 too.

Dilemma :\

Makenai Website Re-Launch!

makenai

It's been a long time in the making but the Makenai website www.makenai.co.uk is finally back online with a shiney new look and lots and LOTS of images ^_^ Yay!

There's a holding page up for Makenai Team and will shortly be updating the Angel League part of the site too (I've seen the new stuff for AL on Scott's machine - WOW.) In the meantime, you'll all have to put up with the terrible artwork I did in 2004 XD;;

Any bugs, please report :3 Thanks~!

Fuu is being fixed up by the lovely Vauxhall people ^^ It turned out to be the oil pressure switch as I thought and they’re changing it for us. £69 which is more than what I thought it cost (£30) but I assume the rest is just Bath prices for labour etc. Can’t get away from the Bath prices in Bath, sadly.

At least she will be good as new though when we pick her up after work ^^

Your Age by Eating Out

  • Jun. 4th, 2009 at 6:04 PM
GRIN

(I just saw this on a forum and mine came out quite creepily accurate - only a year off, but it seemed to be spot on for other people o_O Does it work with anyone else? You'll need a calculator...)

It takes less than a minute. Work this out as you read. Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all , pick the number of times a week that you would like to go out to eat. (more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50 (get the calculator out)

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759...
Or if you haven't, add 1758.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number. (I.e., How many ti me s you want to go out to restaurants in a week.)

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE ! ------ (Oh YES, it is!)

Rock Band 2 & Guitar Hero World Tour

  • May. 31st, 2009 at 11:44 AM
ick
So yesterday evening when it was cool enough to do so, we closed all of the doors & windows so nobody could hear us and we got out Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour, which a colleague had let us borrow whilst they went away on holiday for a fortnight. We were thinking of buying one or the other for the many times we have friends over and need entertainment (there is only so much Taiko we can play!) so this was a good way to trial things.

I have to say, I'm disappointed.  The experience itself is fun, and no doubt it's got potential and promise, but there's something really important missing.

Oh yes thats right - DECENT SONGS >_<

Seriously you would think that they would have better songs on there.  I mean really, where is Meatloaf? Where is Queen? Where is KiSS? (not that I'm a big fan of the latter but I like a couple of their songs) I am totally shocked that none of these artists are on either disc.  The 80's and 90's had some of the most thoroughly enjoyable songs to sing along to for this kind of game and barely a handful scraped through onto it.  Even after browsing through hundreds upon hundreds of downloadable extra tracks, there is still only one song on each of these games that I cared enough about to sing.  'Still Alive' was one of them (though to be honest I didn't ever expect this one to be on the game) and 'Livin on a Prayer' by Bon Jovi.  Ahuh that's right, just one Bon Jovi track in what must have been 800-1000 available songs ;__;  Lips has the same problems too - Good fun but lack of things to actually play with it.

I can liken these to owning a Wii.  The console/platform is amazingly fun and has so many great possibilities, but without many decent games(/songs) then it makes owning one a bit redundant.  Except the difference is the gem-titles on the Wii entertain you for 20-50 hours, and the gems on each of these titles are over in 3 minutes and you don't particularly feel like singing the same song over and over and over because there's little else to choose from.

Right now it's not worth the closet space to store Rock Band or Guitar Hero instruments.

Bah! XDDD

I just realised (or re-realised, something tells me I already knew this and forgot...) that Ayacon falls 1 week before my birthday weekend O_O

I expect most people won't want to see me 2 weekends in a row however for a seperate Wii Party ¦D;; Maybe I should grab some people and find a restaurant, or just grab some people and find out if Pizza Hut will deliver to Ayacon...?
